An unemployed man was fined RM1,000 in default two months' jail by the Magistrate's Court in Kuala Lumpur today on the charge of attempting to mow down a group of policemen two days ago.Magistrate Nurul Ain Abdul Rahim handed down the sentence on A. Premananda, 25, after he pleaded guilty to trying to mow down Inspector Freddy Gompin and other policemen when asked to stop for inspection at Batu 2 1/2 Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Sentul at 2 am on February 2.Premananda tried to flee the scene, but was arrested at a traffic light junction after being chased by the police.In mitigation, Premananda who was not represented, pleaded for lighter punishment, saying that it was his first offence and promised not to repeat the act.Deputy public prosecutor, N.
