Thousands expected at Anwar’s last ceramah before Federal Court verdict

Tomorrow could be his last day as a free man for some years, and a Pakatan Rakyat ceramah will be his last public appearance before the Federal Court verdict on his sodomy charge on Tuesday. – The Malaysian Insider pic by Seth Akmal, February 8, 2015.Pakatan Rakyat will host thousands of supporters in its grand finale of the "Jelajah Rakyat Hakim Negara", the last of a series of ceramah by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tomorrow night.The ceramah (talks), being held ahead of the Federal Court verdict on his appeal against his sodomy conviction on Tuesday, is taking place at Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya. Aside from Anwar, PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and other Pakatan leaders are scheduled to address the crowd.The event will kick off with a dinner at 7.30pm before the Pakatan Rakyat leaders get on stage respectively, to address the crowd.Organising chairman Lee Chean Chung said the list of speakers has been finalised, with DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, PAS deputy president Mohamad (Mat) Sabu, PKR's Tian Chua and Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali being slated to have a say."The momentum is building up. Itreached its peak last night as people realised and became aware on this issue."Lee said more than 2,000 people will attend the dinner as all the tables were sold out.The dinner tickets, priced at RM30 per person, is selling fast and only a few tables are left for tomorrow's event."Only a few tables are left but we will try to accommodate any extra demand," he said."We (organising committee) strongly believe that it is not only about Anwar Ibrahim, it is also about injustice and the biased judiciary system,"In Permatang Pauh yesterday, around 7,000 people gathered to listen to Anwar's ceramah as he emphasised on the importance of strengthening ties among partners within Pakatan Rakyat."I agree with Azmin Ali and Mat Sabu that we must not be derailed from our common policies," he said at a ceramah in Permatang Pauh last night."If I end up in prison again, I urge you all to carry the torch and continue with our struggles," he added, ahead of the Federal Court's verdict on Tuesday on his appeal against his sodomy conviction. – February 8, 2015.
